Pendleton, OR – Freezing fog has created hazardous driving conditions near Pendleton this morning, especially along Interstate 84. Visibility has dropped below a quarter mile in some areas, including the treacherous stretch near Cabbage Hill.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, the dense fog is expected to persist through late morning before gradually lifting. Temperatures will reach a high of 33°F, but icy patches will remain on roadways, posing a risk for drivers. Motorists are advised to reduce speed, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles.
Looking ahead, weather conditions are expected to improve midweek. Wednesday will bring partly sunny skies with a high near 39°F, while Thursday is forecast to remain mostly clear. However, rain chances return Friday evening, transitioning into snow in higher elevations by Sunday.
With changing weather patterns and ongoing risks, travelers are urged to stay updated on forecasts and road conditions. Check the Oregon Department of Transportation’s TripCheck website for real-time updates on I-84 and surrounding routes.
Plan ahead and stay safe as Pendleton moves from foggy mornings to a potentially rainy weekend.
