Troy, IL — Troopers are on the scene of a fatal crash that occurred on Interstate 70 eastbound near Old Staunton Road, milepost 18, in Madison County. The Illinois State Police have shut down both the I-55 southbound ramp leading to I-70 eastbound and the I-70 eastbound lanes while investigating the accident.
According to Illinois State Police Troop 8, the accident has caused significant traffic disruptions, and drivers are urged to seek alternate routes. The crash, which took place early Friday morning, resulted in at least one fatality. The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation.
