Chicago, IL – Tornadoes touched down in the Chicago area, causing significant concern among residents. The National Weather Service confirmed that two EF-1 tornadoes hit on Monday night. One tornado struck the Near West Side of Chicago, while the other traveled from Yorkville to south Naperville.
According to the National Weather Service, the Near West Side tornado hit between 9:47 p.m. and 9:53 p.m., with peak winds reaching 95 mph. It spanned 3.0 miles and had a maximum width of 600 yards. No injuries or deaths were reported.
Meanwhile, the tornado from Yorkville to south Naperville occurred from 8:55 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. It reached peak winds of 100 mph, traveled 16.9 miles, and had a maximum width of 200 yards. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or fatalities.
