Springfield, MO – A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 4 PM CDT today for several counties in Missouri and Illinois as severe weather sweeps across the region. The National Weather Service has warned of the potential for tornadoes, with conditions favorable for their development.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the watch includes areas in central, south-central, and southwest Missouri, as well as parts of Illinois. In Missouri, affected counties include Maries, Pulaski, Howell, Oregon, Shannon, Texas, and others. In Illinois, counties such as Bond, Calhoun, Clinton, and Madison are under the watch. Cities including Waynesville, Rolla, St. Louis, and West Plains could be impacted.

The NWS advises residents to stay alert for severe weather, monitor local media for updates, and prepare to take shelter if a warning is issued. The watch remains active until 4 PM today, though conditions will be monitored closely as storms develop.
