Kalamazoo, MI – A tornado watch has been issued for parts of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana, effective until 3:00 PM EDT Tuesday. Residents in these areas are urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
According to the National Weather Service, a couple of tornadoes are possible within the watch area. The regions at risk include cities such as Kalamazoo, Jackson, Three Rivers, Toledo, and South Bend. Isolated hail, with sizes up to that of a ping pong ball, and scattered gusts reaching up to 70 mph are also expected.
Potential exposure affects approximately 1.8 million people, with 813 schools and 36 hospitals within the watch zone. Authorities advise residents to stay informed through local news and weather updates and to have a safety plan in place. Emergency kits, containing essentials such as water, non-perishable food, and first aid supplies, should be readily available.
