Tornado Watch for Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Tennessee, and Texas: Severe Storms Possible Until 4 AM Saturday

Little Rock, AR – A Tornado Watch has been issued for several regions across the South and Midwest as severe storms with the potential for tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail are expected to continue into Saturday morning. The watch affects portions of Arkansas, northwest Louisiana, the Missouri Bootheel, northwest Tennessee, and northeast Texas.

According to the National Weather Service, the Tornado Watch is in effect from 8:50 PM CDT Friday until 4:00 AM CDT Saturday. The primary threats include a few tornadoes, some of which could be intense, as well as scattered wind gusts up to 70 mph and large hail, with some stones reaching up to 2 inches in diameter.

Meteorologists warn that a line of severe thunderstorms, including embedded supercells, is tracking slowly eastward across the affected area overnight. People in the watch zones should stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions, as tornadoes and severe thunderstorms are likely to develop.
