Cedar Rapids, Iowa – A Tornado Watch remains in effect for Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, and much of eastern Iowa until 8 p.m. Friday, bringing a heightened risk of severe storms to the area.

According to the National Weather Service Quad Cities, Tornado Watch 505 covers 18 counties, including Benton, Linn, Johnson, Scott, Clinton, Muscatine, Des Moines, and Lee. Residents in communities such as Bettendorf, Anamosa, Mount Pleasant, and Maquoketa are advised to stay weather-aware as strong thunderstorms with tornado potential roll through.

Emergency services urge Iowans to review their shelter plans, avoid non-essential travel along I-80 and U.S. 61, and keep weather radios or apps handy for fast-changing updates. Storms could down trees and power lines, creating hazards for both motorists and homeowners.

The Tornado Watch remains in effect until 8 p.m., with additional warnings possible as storms move east. Residents should remain alert and act quickly if a tornado warning is issued in their area.
