According to NWS reports, the tornado touched down southwest of Scotts Valley in Santa Cruz County. Video footage and photos shared on social media show the tornado damaging trees and flipping vehicles. Witnesses described the powerful winds as a rare and frightening sight for the area.
The NWS stated that a survey team will assess the scene to determine the tornado’s official ranking and strength. No injuries have been reported so far, but residents are advised to remain cautious as crews assess the damage.
