Tippecanoe County, IN – A pedestrian was struck and killed Monday afternoon along State Road 43, just south of County Road 600 North, according to the Indiana State Police Lafayette District.

Troopers responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m., where an initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian had been attempting to cross State Road 43 near the Speedway and Phillips 66 gas stations. At that time, a school bus traveling northbound in the left lane struck the individual.

The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Authorities said the individual’s identity will be released after positive identification and notification of next of kin.

Police confirmed there were no students on board the school bus, which is operated by the Tippecanoe School Corporation. No other injuries were reported.

The crash remains under active investigation by the Indiana State Police Crash Reconstruction Team. Agencies assisting at the scene included the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, Battle Ground Police Department, Tippecanoe County EMS, and Tippecanoe Township Fire Department.
