Tippecanoe County, IN – A Connersville man was arrested Monday evening after Indiana State Police say a traffic stop on U.S. 41 near Interstate 74 led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
According to the Indiana State Police–Lafayette District, Trooper Brandon Howell pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation when he developed probable cause to search it. During the search, officers allegedly found methamphetamine and related paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
Police said further investigation led Trooper Howell to believe the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance. The driver, identified as a 57-year-old male from Connersville, Indiana, was taken into custody and booked on preliminary charges of possession of methamphetamine and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
Authorities have not released the driver’s name pending formal charges. The investigation remains ongoing through the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
