Tinley Park, IL – A decade-long vision is finally becoming reality in Downtown Tinley Park as the village prepares to unveil Harmony Square, a 1.6-acre multi-use plaza, with a grand opening celebration on Friday, July 18.

According to the Village of Tinley Park, the new plaza—located at the corner of Oak Park Avenue and North Street—will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, vendor booths, food and drinks, special resident merchandise offers, and a live concert by the BoDeans from 7 to 10 p.m.

“Harmony Square has been a key component of our vision for a first-class downtown for many years,” Mayor Michael Glotz said. “This is something that’s not just huge for Tinley Park – it’s a big win for the entire region.”

The grand opening will lead directly into the annual Tinley Park Block Party, scheduled for Saturday, July 19, from 2 to 10 p.m., and Sunday, July 20, from noon to 7 p.m. The event will feature two stages with live music, food and drink vendors, carnival rides, and games.

Once open, Harmony Square will become the new home for many of the village’s major events, including the Farmers Market, Music in the Plaza, Boo Bash, and Holiday Happenings. New additions planned for the square include yoga sessions, jumbo games, instrument zones, and movie nights. In winter, the plaza will be transformed into an ice rink with curling lanes.
