Tinley Park, Illinois – A 36-year-old man was charged after allegedly entering a daycare Tuesday morning, prompting a police search and drone deployment.
According to the Village of Tinley Park Public Safety, officers responded at 5:46 a.m. to the 80th Avenue KinderCare at 7965 W. 175th St. after an employee reported an unknown man inside the business.
Police said the employee told officers the man fled before authorities arrived and matched the description of a person previously involved in a criminal trespass at the same location on Feb. 15.
Tinley Park officers established a perimeter and searched the surrounding area. Authorities said a department drone was deployed and helped locate the suspect a short time later near the 7800 block of Bristol Park Drive.
Police identified the man as James D. Viggiani, 36, of Orland Hills. A witness allegedly confirmed Viggiani was the same person seen inside the daycare earlier, according to police. He was taken into custody without incident. Officers checked the KinderCare for damage or missing property and reported none.
Viggiani was charged with criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said he was transported to the Bridgeview Courthouse pending a bond hearing and for allegedly violating pre-trial release conditions related to the earlier trespass case.
The department credited responding officers for their coordination and the use of drone technology in locating the suspect.
The incident may raise concern for families and employees who rely on early-morning childcare services in the area.
