Thurston County, WA – The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office released statements Sunday addressing two recent death investigations that have gained traction on social media, clarifying the incidents are unrelated.
According to Lt. Mike Brooks, deputies responded to two separate cases this week — one on Littlerock Road SW and another near Lindsay Road SE and 153rd Avenue SE.
In the first case, reported around 4:00 p.m. on January 11, 2026, deputies found a deceased man near the 16000 block of Littlerock Road SW. Investigators determined the death appeared to result from a medical emergency while the man was hiking. The Sheriff’s Office said there is no ongoing investigation and has contacted the man’s family.
In a separate incident around 3:00 p.m., deputies responded to a different death investigation near Lindsay Road SE. Upon arrival, they found a deceased adult male with visible injuries. A homicide investigation was launched, and an Olympia man was later arrested for Unlawful Disposal of Human Remains. The suspect was booked into the Thurston County Jail.
Officials emphasized there is no known threat to the public. The Coroner’s Office will release the deceased’s name at a later time.
The Sheriff’s Office encourages anyone with information about the ongoing case to contact detectives.
