Duluth, Minnesota – Widespread frost is expected to blanket much of northeastern Minnesota and northern Wisconsin early Thursday morning, prompting a frost advisory from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m.

According to the National Weather Service in Duluth, overnight temperatures will dip to around 33°F across Carlton and South St. Louis counties in Minnesota—including Duluth—and as far south as Douglas, Washburn, Sawyer, and Price counties in Wisconsin. Cities such as Superior, Ashland, Hayward, and Phillips are all within the advisory area.

The advisory includes multiple tribal lands and national recreation areas like the Apostle Islands and Madeline Island, where low-lying terrain and calm skies increase the risk of frost formation. Sensitive vegetation may be damaged or killed if not protected.

Residents are urged to bring in or cover outdoor plants and disconnect garden hoses ahead of the chill. While the frost won’t affect travel, it serves as a seasonal reminder for homeowners and farmers alike to prepare for colder mornings ahead.

Additional advisories could follow later this week if cool, clear conditions persist.
