Wilmington, NC – Today, Southeastern North Carolina is experiencing yet another scorching late-August day. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 90s in various areas, with Watha hitting 95°F and Jerome soaring to 97°F. These conditions are expected to persist throughout the day as high pressure continues to dominate the region.

According to the National Weather Service, this hot and dry weather pattern will limit any convective activity, meaning only isolated showers or thunderstorms are expected. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid extended outdoor activities during peak heat.

The good news is that relief is on the way. The forecast indicates a gradual cooldown as we approach the Labor Day weekend. Starting Friday, temperatures will dip slightly, with highs in the lower 90s. By Monday, Wilmington could see a more significant drop, with temperatures around 89°F and a chance of showers.
