Paducah, KY – Residents of Kentucky should prepare for severe weather as scattered thunderstorms are forecast to intensify later this week. The storms are expected to grow more numerous on Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing with them the threat of damaging winds and heavy rain, particularly into Thursday night. The region, including Paducah and surrounding areas, could see flash flooding due to locally heavy rainfall.
According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Paducah, Thursday’s high temperatures will range from 90 to 93 degrees, adding humidity to the mix. The storms are predicted to become more widespread throughout the day, with the main concerns being strong winds and the potential for flash flooding in low-lying areas.
As the storms move across the region, southeast Missouri is also under watch for heavy rainfall and localized flooding, particularly in shaded green areas highlighted in the morning forecast. Showers are already moving through the area and will continue southeast throughout the morning.
The unsettled weather is expected to linger into Friday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms persisting, though conditions should improve by the weekend. Residents are urged to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions as the severe weather system moves through the region.
