Jackson, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky faces a stretch of unsettled weather through midweek, with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms that could disrupt travel and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, skies remain partly to mostly cloudy tonight with a few lingering showers. Low temperatures will dip into the upper 50s, offering a brief cool-down before storm chances build again on Wednesday.

Showers and thunderstorms are expected to become more numerous Wednesday afternoon, especially in counties along the Mountain Parkway and Interstate 75 corridor. The agency places storm chances at 30 to 60 percent, with highs rising into the low 80s. Heavy rain and isolated lightning could impact school dismissals and evening commutes.

By Thursday, storms will be widespread across the region, with rain coverage climbing to 80 percent. Daytime highs will remain warm in the upper 70s, but localized downpours may lead to ponding on roads and temporary power outages. Residents are urged to avoid driving through water-covered roadways and to keep devices charged in case of outages.

The storm threat continues through Thursday night, with additional updates expected from the National Weather Service as conditions evolve.
