Millington, TN – Early Sunday, Shelby County deputies rescued a woman trapped inside a burning home on Port Haven Drive.

Around 1:25 a.m., deputies arrived to find a bedridden woman unable to escape the smoke-filled house. Without hesitation, three deputies entered the home, locating the woman and carrying her to safety.

Shelby County Fire Department extinguished the kitchen fire before it could spread further. While the woman and deputies avoided severe injuries, all suffered from smoke inhalation. Three deputies and the woman were transported to Methodist North Hospital in non-critical condition.

Officials credit the swift response of deputies and firefighters for preventing a much worse outcome. Authorities reminded residents to regularly test smoke alarms and practice fire safety.

The heroic actions of law enforcement and fire crews underscore the importance of teamwork during emergencies. Shelby County residents are urged to remain vigilant and prepared for potential house fires.

The woman and deputies have since been released from the hospital.
