Fontana, CA – A series of three earthquakes struck just north of Fontana on Saturday, shaking local neighborhoods within hours.

The largest tremor, a 3.5 magnitude earthquake, hit at 2:17 p.m. local time. Earlier, a 3.4 magnitude quake occurred at 8:17 a.m., while a smaller 2.6 magnitude tremor followed at 1:32 a.m. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquakes occurred within a six-kilometer radius near Youngs Drive and Hoppe Drive near the Catch Basin.

Residents reported feeling mild to moderate shaking, with some describing sudden jolts followed by a rumble. The USGS Community Internet Intensity Map shows responses indicating light to moderate shaking. No significant damage or injuries were reported as of Sunday.

Experts say the earthquakes occurred at shallow depths of 2.6 to 3.5 kilometers, amplifying their impact. Local authorities remind residents to review earthquake preparedness plans as seismic activity in the region remains unpredictable.

If you felt the quakes, the USGS encourages residents to report their experiences through its “Did You Feel It?” platform to aid scientific analysis.
