This Week: Kankakee Police Take Two Into Custody After Back-to-Back Robberies

Kankakee, Illinois – A pair of suspects, including a juvenile, have been taken into custody in connection with two separate robberies reported earlier this week in Kankakee.

According to the Kankakee Police Department, the first incident occurred Sunday at approximately 10:41 a.m. in the 800 block of West Jeffery Street. A second robbery followed early Monday morning around 5:24 a.m. in the 900 block of West Station Street. In both cases, police officers quickly secured the scenes and launched follow-up investigations.

Detectives reportedly linked the two robberies through ongoing investigative work and located the suspects by Tuesday in the 800 block of South Washington Avenue. Both individuals surrendered peacefully and were taken into custody without incident.

Police said one of the suspects is a juvenile, while the second has been identified as Nefertini Griffin, born January 7, 2007. Both face charges pending review by the Kankakee County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The department stated it remains committed to swiftly identifying and apprehending individuals connected to violent crime in the area. Officials praised officers and detectives for their quick and professional response in addressing both incidents.
