Colorado – The chill in the high plains air this morning carries a quiet promise — sun now, snow later. Colorado’s Front Range glows under clear skies and crisp November light as the state prepares for a calm but deceptively transitional Thanksgiving stretch.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, Colorado Springs and surrounding areas can expect ideal Thanksgiving travel conditions with sunny skies and highs near 51°F. Winds will stay light, and major routes like I-25 and Highway 24 should remain dry and clear through Friday, a welcome gift for families on the move across the region.

But residents shouldn’t let the calm fool them. A colder pattern begins late Friday night, bringing a 30% chance of light snow by Saturday evening, especially for higher elevations along the Palmer Divide. Saturday highs drop sharply into the mid-30s, while nighttime lows plunge into the teens, creating a potential freeze risk for exposed pipes and outdoor pets.

The Arctic air mass spreading south this weekend marks the beginning of a larger early-December cold snap that could deepen across much of the central U.S. from December 1–5. Long-range models show the potential for heavier snow bands in the central Rockies and below-normal temperatures statewide through early next week.

For now, Colorado enjoys a brilliant Thanksgiving under blue skies and sunshine, perfect for outdoor meals and mountain drives. But by the weekend, winter will make its first real appearance, turning mild autumn calm into a classic late-November chill.
