Austin, TX – A winter weather advisory remains in effect for parts of South Central Texas until 9 AM CST Saturday, with freezing rain expected to create hazardous driving conditions.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Austin/San Antonio, areas including Austin, San Antonio, San Marcos, and New Braunfels are expected to see light ice accumulation, particularly on bridges, overpasses, and sidewalks. Counties affected include Hays, Bexar, Comal, Guadalupe, Caldwell, Wilson, Gonzales, Bandera, Blanco, Kendall, and Travis.

The NWS warns that roads may become slick, and drivers should exercise caution, reduce speed, and allow extra travel time. Power outages are also possible due to ice buildup on power lines.

Residents are urged to stay indoors if possible and check road conditions at drivetexas.org before traveling. If going outside, take care on icy sidewalks, driveways, and stairs to avoid falls.

For real-time updates, visit the National Weather Service website or call 800-452-9292 for Texas road conditions.
