Amarillo, TX – A winter storm is expected to impact several areas in the Texas Panhandle this weekend, bringing significant snow accumulation and gusty winds. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for parts of Deaf Smith, Oldham, Palo Duro Canyon, Potter, and Randall counties, including Amarillo, Canyon, and Hereford, from 1 AM Saturday through 1 AM Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service, residents can expect 3 to 6 inches of heavy, wet snow in most areas, with wind gusts up to 40 mph. Road conditions are expected to be slippery, creating hazardous travel conditions. Snowfall in Armstrong County, which includes cities such as Claude and Goodnight, will likely reach between 3 and 5 inches.
