Corpus Christi, Texas – A passing cold front will push thunderstorm chances up to 70% in Corpus Christi on Saturday, offering a break from soaring temperatures that recently reached the mid-90s.

According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, several disturbances moving through South Texas will increase rain chances through early next week. The highest potential arrives Saturday, with a medium risk (40–70%) for showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon and evening hours. Highs will drop into the low 80s Saturday and hover in the 80s through Tuesday.

Friday will remain hot and humid, with highs between 83 and 96 degrees before the front arrives. Rain chances start at 40% Friday, climb to 70% Saturday, and stay elevated—around 30–40%—through Tuesday. Overnight lows will fall into the upper 60s to low 70s, slightly cooler than recent nights.

Localized downpours and gusty winds may impact travel on area roads, including I-37, SH 286, and US 181. Residents are advised to check for updates and avoid low-lying flood-prone areas during heavy rain. Outdoor plans should include backup indoor options.

Rain chances will gradually taper off after Tuesday, but additional disturbances could bring renewed showers later next week.
