Bushland, Texas – A powerful thunderstorm is bringing wind gusts up to 50 mph to portions of Potter, Randall, Deaf Smith, and Oldham counties Tuesday morning, prompting concern for travelers and residents in the Amarillo area.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, radar tracked the storm 8 miles southwest of Bushland shortly after 7:30 AM, moving north at 20 mph. Forecasters issued a Special Weather Statement, cautioning that gusty winds could down tree limbs and move unsecured objects through at least 8 AM.
Impacted areas include the communities of Wildorado and Bushland. Motorists along Interstate 40 and nearby state roads should prepare for sudden gusts, especially those driving high-profile vehicles or motorcycles. Loose outdoor items, such as patio furniture and garbage bins, should be secured immediately.
