SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Central and South Texas are holding onto summer warmth a little longer, but a notable cool-down is on the way. Wednesday’s highs will reach the low to mid-90s under partly cloudy skies, though the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio reports that nights will soon feel much more like fall, with lows dipping into the 50s and low 60s by the weekend.

According to the NWS, a few isolated showers or stray storms may pop up this afternoon across the western Hill Country, the Southern Edwards Plateau, and near the Rio Grande. Rain coverage will remain sparse—less than 20%—before drier air filters in from the east. Breezes from the east and northeast around 5 to 15 mph will add a mild, refreshing feel during the evenings.

Humidity levels will steadily drop through Friday, giving way to crisp, cooler mornings and more comfortable afternoons. The stretch of dry, sunny weather will continue into early next week, ideal for outdoor events, football games, and early fall festivals across San Antonio, Austin, and the Hill Country.

Drivers are advised to watch for brief wet spots on U.S. 90 and I-10 west of San Antonio this afternoon, but no major travel issues are expected. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated during the warm afternoons and plan for cooler conditions overnight by Friday.
