Amarillo, TX – A warm and sunny Sunday is on the horizon for Amarillo, with highs reaching the upper 60s to low 70s. However, breezy southwest winds up to 25 mph may create challenges for outdoor activities. Residents are advised to secure lightweight objects and be cautious of elevated fire risks due to the dry, gusty weather.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s high will reach 61°F under clear skies, with light winds gradually shifting from the west to the south. Tonight, temperatures will dip into the low 40s, with south winds picking up to 15 mph. Sunday will bring warmer conditions, but winds will intensify, especially during the afternoon. Sunday night will cool down to the mid-30s, with a shift to calmer north winds overnight.

The mild weather will extend into Monday, with highs in the mid-50s under sunny skies. By Tuesday, temperatures are expected to climb again into the mid-60s, but breezy conditions may persist. Midweek will see cooler temperatures, with Wednesday’s high falling to 51°F.

Local officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning this weekend, as breezy, dry conditions could quickly escalate small flames into wildfires. If spending time outside, consider limiting activities that produce sparks, and stay hydrated during the warmer temperatures.

With clear skies and above-average warmth, Amarillo residents should enjoy the weekend, but stay aware of changing wind conditions.
