Houston, TX – A warm and wetter-than-normal pattern is expected across Texas from Nov. 29th through Dec. 5th, bringing multiple rounds of rain statewide as early December begins.

According to NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, temperatures are forecast to run above normal across most of Texas, including Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and the Rio Grande Valley. Even North Texas — including Dallas, Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, and Sherman — will remain too warm for any winter weather. All precipitation during this period is expected to fall as rain.

NOAA’s precipitation outlook also shows a strong above-normal precipitation signal, suggesting several storm systems may sweep across the Southern Plains. Houston, Beaumont, and the upper Texas Gulf Coast may see frequent, heavy downpours, especially as Gulf moisture surges inland.

Central Texas — including Austin, Waco, Temple, and College Station — will also receive multiple rounds of steady rain, which could lead to minor flooding in low-lying areas.

East Texas — including Tyler, Longview, Lufkin, and Texarkana — may see some of the highest totals, with periods of moderate to heavy rainfall possible.

West Texas and the Panhandle — including Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, Midland, and El Paso — are also in line for periodic rain, though amounts will be lighter compared to eastern regions.

Forecasters emphasize that this is not one large storm but a multi-system wet pattern, producing slippery roads, reduced visibility, and occasional travel delays along major corridors such as I-10, I-35, I-45, and I-20.

As December begins, Texas residents should prepare for a warm, humid, and rain-heavy stretch across the entire state.
