Austin, TX – Central Texas will remain hot through the first half of the week, with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s and mid to upper 90s, according to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio.

Forecasters said Sunday that while skies will stay mostly sunny to partly cloudy, a few isolated showers or thunderstorms may form along the coastal plains this afternoon and evening. Most of the Austin and San Antonio metro areas, however, are expected to remain dry.

According to the NWS, highs will range from 95 to 98 degrees in Austin, San Antonio, Del Rio, and surrounding cities through Tuesday. Overnight lows will stay in the low to mid-70s, offering little relief from the daytime heat.

Rain chances increase beginning Wednesday as a weak cold front moves into the region. Probabilities for precipitation rise to 40–60 percent mid-week across parts of the I-35 corridor, including New Braunfels, San Marcos, and Gonzales. That front could also bring slightly cooler nighttime lows dipping into the upper 60s by late week.

Drivers and outdoor workers should prepare for continued hot conditions through at least Tuesday, with the possibility of brief mid-week storms bringing relief and localized wet roads.
