Texas — The sun rises clear over the Metroplex this morning, spilling golden light across Fort Worth’s skyline as travel picks up ahead of Thanksgiving. Cool air lingers early, but a steady warm-up is underway, signaling an ideal start for one of the busiest travel days of the year.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, sunny and calm weather dominates through Thanksgiving Day. Highs reach the upper 50s to near 60°F, with barely a breeze by Thursday afternoon. Roads and skies across North Texas should remain clear, offering smooth conditions for travelers heading along I-35, I-20, or U.S. 287.

But the holiday calm won’t last long. By Friday, clouds begin to build as southerly winds draw moisture back into the region. Temperatures climb to the mid-60s, setting the stage for a chance of late-day showers and isolated thunderstorms that could stretch into the overnight hours. Early models hint that Saturday could bring a stronger round of rain and a few thunderstorms, mainly across central and eastern counties.

If you’re planning outdoor Black Friday shopping or early Christmas decorating, Friday afternoon into Saturday morning may turn damp and breezy. Keep an umbrella handy and watch for changing skies.

By Sunday, the rain moves east, leaving behind a much cooler and drier pattern. Highs fall back into the 40s and low 50s, reminding Texans that December’s chill isn’t far behind. Looking ahead, meteorologists are monitoring a major Arctic front expected to sweep southward around December 1–3, possibly dropping temperatures sharply and introducing a winter-like pattern across much of the U.S.
