Corpus Christi, TX – A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect for the Gulf waters near Corpus Christi through Saturday noon. Mariners can expect northeast winds of 20 to 25 knots, gusting up to 30 knots, with seas ranging from 5 to 7 feet. Choppy to rough conditions will persist, making navigation hazardous for small vessels.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Corpus Christi, the advisory is crucial for inexperienced boaters and those operating smaller crafts. Authorities urge avoiding these waters until conditions improve.
Saturday’s weather includes a 40% chance of morning rain and thunderstorms, gradually clearing by late afternoon. Highs will reach 65°F, with winds shifting north-northeast at 14 to 20 mph. Gusts up to 24 mph are possible, contributing to continued rough seas.
Looking ahead, a calmer Sunday will bring mostly cloudy skies with highs near 70°F and winds easing to 6-8 mph. By Monday, Corpus Christi could experience a warm-up, with temperatures peaking at 80°F under partly sunny skies. Rain chances return late Sunday into Monday night, potentially reducing snowpack further north.
Drivers should also note possible slick roads during morning rain showers, especially near high-traffic routes like US Highway 77. Avoid unnecessary travel in these conditions, and stay updated on weather advisories.
For residents and visitors, this week’s fluctuating weather offers a mix of rain, warmth, and cooling breezes. Prepare for potential outdoor disruptions early in the week and stay tuned for updates on late-week snow chances in northern Texas.
