FORT WORTH, Texas – An Ozone Action Day is in effect Tuesday across the Dallas–Fort Worth area as unseasonably warm, sunny weather contributes to poor air quality and elevated ozone levels.

According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, light winds and abundant sunshine are creating ideal conditions for ozone formation. Residents are urged to reduce emissions by carpooling, avoiding idling vehicles, and limiting outdoor activity during the afternoon when ozone concentrations peak.

The National Weather Service in Fort Worth reports that Tuesday’s high will reach around 89°F under clear skies, continuing a stretch of late-season warmth. Similar conditions persist Wednesday and Thursday, with highs in the upper 80s and light southerly breezes. Nights will stay mild, dipping into the mid-60s.

Air quality is expected to gradually improve by Friday as winds strengthen slightly and humidity rises. A few isolated showers could appear late Saturday, but most of North Texas remains dry through the weekend.
