Amarillo, TX – Residents across the Texas Panhandle should prepare for a shift in weather patterns as late May approaches. A new 8-14 day climate outlook suggests temperatures will trend near seasonal averages, with a slight chance of increased rainfall returning to the region.
According to the US National Weather Service Amarillo, this forecast, issued Saturday, indicates temperatures from May 18 to May 24 will hover around the historical average of 78°F for Amarillo. While conditions have remained relatively dry this week, the latest precipitation outlook shows a possibility of above-normal rainfall returning later this month. The average precipitation for Amarillo during this period is typically 0.58 inches.
Forecasters highlight that while much of the Panhandle remains under near-normal temperature expectations, parts of Texas to the south may experience above-average warmth. Rain chances are also projected to improve across sections of the Central United States, potentially impacting the Panhandle as weather systems shift.
The Weather Service advises residents to monitor updates closely, especially for any rainfall that could alleviate ongoing dry conditions in the area.
