Dallas, TX – Texas will enjoy an extended stretch of mild, sunny, and dry weather through mid-December as warm air from the Pacific builds across the southern U.S. According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s 8–14 Day Outlook, issued December 1, the state is forecast to see above-normal temperatures and below-normal precipitation from December 9 through December 15.

High pressure over the Southwest will keep skies clear and storm systems well to the north. Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio can expect highs in the upper 60s to mid-70s, while Houston and the Rio Grande Valley may approach the low 80s. Nights will stay cool but comfortable, generally in the 40s and 50s.

NOAA forecasters say rainfall chances remain low, meaning the warm, dry pattern will extend statewide — from the Panhandle to the Gulf Coast. The setup is typical of a December ridge pattern, bringing pleasant conditions but limited moisture for parched soils and reservoirs.

Meanwhile, the eastern half of the U.S. continues to battle Arctic air and wintry weather, setting up a sharp temperature divide across the country.

Forecasters expect the warm and dry pattern to persist through mid-December, with only a modest cooldown possible closer to the holidays if the ridge weakens.
