Texas residents will experience a mix of fire risk and ideal spring weather as the first weekend of the season approaches. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for Houston and surrounding areas until 7 PM tonight, while Dallas and much of North Texas can expect warm and sunny conditions through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Houston/Galveston, low humidity, gusty winds up to 25 mph, and dry conditions have heightened the risk of wildfires in Southeast Texas, including Harris, Montgomery, and Brazoria counties. Residents are urged to avoid outdoor burning and activities that could spark fires.

Meanwhile, Dallas and North Texas are in for a stretch of sunny, warm weather. Friday’s high will reach 77°F, with a south wind up to 15 mph. Temperatures will continue rising, reaching 83°F on Saturday and Sunday, making it a perfect weekend for outdoor activities.

By Sunday, Houston could see scattered thunderstorms, with a 50% chance of rain by the evening. The storm risk extends into Monday morning, bringing some relief from the dry conditions.

Looking ahead to next week, both cities will stay warm, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s. Dallas will remain mostly sunny, while Houston could see occasional rain chances early in the week.

Texans should stay aware of fire risks in Houston today and enjoy the warm start to spring across the state.
