DALLAS, Texas – North and Central Texas will wake up to the coldest morning of the season Monday as a strong Arctic front drives temperatures well below freezing. A Freeze Warning has been issued for much of the region, marking the official end of the growing season.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, the warning is in effect from 9 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday for a large portion of Texas, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton, Waco, Corsicana, McKinney, and Paris. Overnight lows are expected to reach 25°F to 29°F, with some rural areas dipping even colder.

Forecasters warn that the freeze could kill tender vegetation and damage exposed plumbing. Residents should wrap outdoor pipes, bring pets and plants inside, and drain sprinkler systems ahead of the freeze. The Texas Department of Transportation cautions drivers about patchy frost or slick spots on bridges early Monday along I-35, I-20, and U.S. 75.

Clear skies and light winds will allow rapid cooling overnight. Sunshine will return Monday afternoon, though temperatures will stay well below normal. Warmer, more seasonable weather is expected to return by midweek as southerly winds develop.
