Corpus Christi, TX – A powerful storm system is moving across South Texas, dumping several inches of rain and raising flash flood concerns in multiple counties, especially around Corpus Christi.
According to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi, the heaviest rainfall is expected Thursday through Friday, with storm totals reaching 10 to 15 inches in some areas. Cities including Alice, Victoria, Beeville, and Port Lavaca are also in line for significant precipitation, increasing the risk of small stream flooding and dangerous travel conditions.
Officials warn that isolated severe thunderstorms may accompany the system, bringing strong winds and the potential for localized heavier rainfall. Training thunderstorms, where storms pass repeatedly over the same area, are a primary concern. Flooded roadways are already being monitored, and drivers are urged to obey all closure signs and avoid driving through standing water.
The storm system is forecast to taper off late Friday night. This level of rainfall is well above seasonal averages for late March. Residents should prepare emergency supplies, charge devices, and stay tuned to local alerts.
