Austin, Texas – South Central Texas will sizzle through the first week of July as high temperatures push into the upper 90s and even hit triple digits in Del Rio and Uvalde, with little relief from rain.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, highs across the region will range from 93°F in San Marcos to 100°F in Del Rio through Tuesday, with Austin expected to top out at 99°F by Thursday. Overnight lows will remain warm, hovering in the mid-70s. While isolated afternoon showers are possible—especially near Cuero, La Grange, and Gonzales—rain chances stay between 10% and 30% most days.
Cities including New Braunfels, San Antonio, and Eagle Pass should prepare for several consecutive days of hot, humid weather, increasing the risk of heat-related illness. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, and ensure pets and vulnerable populations are protected.
Coastal plains may see isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon, while hazy skies could develop region-wide as Saharan dust drifts into the area. This could reduce visibility and air quality, especially for those with respiratory issues.
Temperatures are expected to remain elevated into the holiday week. Additional heat advisories may be issued as conditions persist.
