Houston, TX – Southeast Texas is in for a wild weather ride, with thunderstorms expected this weekend followed by a sharp temperature drop next week.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Houston-Galveston, a cold front will bring showers and thunderstorms Saturday, with stronger storms possible in northern counties, including College Station and Livingston. Damaging wind gusts remain the primary concern.
Following the storm system, an arctic blast will push through the region between Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing a significant temperature drop. Forecasted lows on Wednesday could fall below freezing in some areas, with places like Columbus and Crockett seeing minimum temperatures in the mid-20s.
Residents are advised to prepare for severe weather this weekend and much colder conditions next week. The NWS recommends staying weather-aware, securing outdoor items, and preparing for potential hazardous road conditions as temperatures plunge.
