Fort Worth, Texas – Searing heat and overnight thunderstorms will define Sunday in Fort Worth, with the National Weather Service issuing a summer weather alert for dangerous heat during the day and strong storms overnight.

According to the National Weather Service, heat index values could soar to 106°F on Sunday, June 8, with a slight chance of storms early in the morning. More concerning, however, is the 70% chance of thunderstorms after midnight into Monday morning, with potential for heavy rain and lightning. These conditions could create hazardous travel, especially on I-35W, U.S. 287, and Loop 820.

Tarrant County residents should avoid overnight driving if possible and ensure outdoor activities wrap up before Sunday evening. Those working outdoors during the day should stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity, and wear light clothing.

Storm chances remain elevated through Tuesday, with Monday bringing a 50% chance of daytime storms, and a 60% chance of more severe activity Monday night. Winds will shift northeast late Monday, signaling a minor cooldown but continuing storm risk through midweek.

Prepare now by checking flashlights, securing loose items outdoors, and charging electronics.

Storm threats remain through at least Wednesday, with more updates expected Sunday evening as forecast models evolve.
