Texas drivers are easing through a wall of gray this morning. Dense fog blankets Houston, cutting visibility to a quarter mile or less in spots. Headlights glow softly along I-45 and I-10, and brake lights appear suddenly through the haze.

A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m. Across Harris, Galveston, Brazoria, and surrounding counties, travel conditions are hazardous. Visibility at Houston Hobby has dropped to 0.25 miles. Humidity sits at 100 percent, and winds remain calm. That combination allows fog to thicken quickly before sunrise.

If you’re commuting now, slow down and increase following distance. Use low-beam headlights. Allow extra time. Conditions may improve gradually after mid-morning as sunlight breaks through.

Once the fog lifts, February warmth takes over. Highs climb to 78 degrees under partly sunny skies. Southeast winds return this afternoon, feeding Gulf moisture back into Southeast Texas.

Patchy fog could redevelop late tonight with lows near 61 degrees. By Friday, areas of morning fog give way to partial sunshine and a high near 75. A slight rain chance develops after midnight.

Valentine’s Day Saturday turns wetter. Showers become likely, with highs near 73 degrees. Rain chances approach 90 percent, and a thunderstorm is possible before midnight. Plan indoor alternatives for evening events.

Sunday dries out and cools slightly. Sunshine returns with highs near 70 degrees. Washington’s Birthday warms back to the mid-70s under mostly sunny skies.

Looking ahead, the 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across Texas and much of the central U.S. A more active pattern may bring additional rain chances next week, but spring vibes are building.

For now, dense fog is the immediate concern.

Five-Day Outlook for Houston, TX:
Friday: High 75, areas of morning fog
Saturday: High 73, showers likely
Sunday: High 70, sunny
Monday: High 74, mostly sunny
Tuesday: High 77, mostly sunny
