FORT WORTH, Texas – The pre-dawn air is still warm across North Texas, but it won’t stay that way for long. By midday Wednesday, a sharp cold front will push through the Dallas–Fort Worth area, bringing blustery northwest winds and a quick drop in temperatures — a brief but forceful reminder that fall means business.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday for much of north-central Texas, including the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. Sustained winds of 25 to 30 mph and gusts near 45 mph are expected, especially along the I-35 and I-20 corridors. Small tree limbs could break, unsecured items may blow around, and high-profile vehicles should use caution on open roadways and overpasses.

Ahead of the front, Tuesday stays warm and dry, topping out near 75°F under mostly sunny skies. Conditions shift rapidly Wednesday as winds swing northwest and afternoon highs struggle to reach the low 60s. Skies clear by evening, setting up a cooler stretch through Thursday and Friday with crisp mornings and mild, sunny afternoons.

For Halloween, trick-or-treaters can expect clear skies, light winds, and perfect fall air with temperatures in the 60s at sunset. It’s ideal weather for costumes — just keep an extra layer handy once the sun dips.

To be fair, the wind may cause some short-term headaches midweek, but the payoff is classic North Texas fall weather to close out October.
