Texas – Warm air is already settling over Dallas this morning, with a steady breeze picking up and clear skies giving way to increasing clouds. Traffic is moving smoothly along I-35 and I-635, but that calm start won’t last long. Winds are beginning to strengthen, signaling a shift later today.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures climb into the mid-70s this afternoon with south winds increasing to 25 mph and gusts nearing 30 mph. A 20% chance of showers develops after early afternoon, but the better opportunity for rain arrives later tonight as clouds thicken.

Conditions turn more active into the evening. Scattered showers become more likely, and winds may remain elevated, especially in open areas west of Dallas. Wet pavement could develop quickly overnight, so plan extra travel time if you’re out late.

Saturday brings a noticeable cooldown behind the system. Highs drop to around 62°F with lighter winds and partial sunshine returning. The air will feel much cooler compared to today’s warmth, especially during the morning hours.

By Sunday, the pattern flips again. Sunshine dominates, and temperatures rebound into the mid-80s across North Texas. That warming trend peaks Monday, with highs pushing near 87°F and mostly sunny skies offering a strong early taste of summer.

Looking ahead, slight storm chances return by midweek, but above-normal warmth continues to build across the region.

Heading out tonight or this weekend? Are you noticing the winds picking up in your area?
