San Angelo, Texas – Severe thunderstorms could bring gusty winds and downpours to parts of West Central Texas through early Friday afternoon, as unsettled weather lingers over the San Angelo area.

According to the National Weather Service in San Angelo, there is a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms through 1 p.m. Friday, some of which could be strong. The storms follow overnight activity that moved through with lightning and scattered rainfall. Winds will remain light from the east-northeast around 5 to 10 mph, keeping storm cells relatively slow-moving.

Locally, the heaviest rain bands may impact low-lying areas near Loop 306 and U.S. 87, while rural roads in Tom Green and Runnels counties could see brief flooding. Commuters should allow extra time and avoid driving through water-covered streets. Although storm coverage is limited, isolated strong cells could produce brief hail or wind gusts.

Conditions are expected to clear by Friday night, with mostly cloudy skies and a low near 64°F. A slight chance of storms returns Saturday, but sunny skies are forecast by Sunday, with highs climbing into the 90s.

Additional alerts may be issued if storms intensify. Drivers and residents should stay weather-aware through midday.
