Texas Weather Alert: Severe Storms with Large Hail and Winds Threaten Fort Worth from 3 PM to 1 AM Sunday

Fort Worth, TX – Severe weather is expected to sweep across North and Central Texas Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning, with the Fort Worth area under increased threat for damaging winds and large hail.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, strong to severe thunderstorms will develop ahead of a cold front and dryline beginning around 3 p.m. Sunday. The greatest risk areas include Fort Worth, Waco, Killeen, and as far east as Palestine, where storms may persist through 1 a.m. Monday.

The primary hazards include wind gusts exceeding 60 mph and hail up to the size of golf balls. While the tornado threat remains low, forecasters caution that it is not zero. Timing of the storms varies by region: Fort Worth and nearby areas may see impacts from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., while Waco and Killeen are under threat from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. East Texas, including Palestine, could experience storms as late as 1 a.m.

Residents are urged to have multiple ways to receive warnings, such as phone alerts, weather radios, or TV broadcasts. Officials advise staying indoors during storm periods and securing outdoor items.
