San Antonio, Texas – Scattered thunderstorms and pockets of heavy rain are expected to develop across South-Central Texas today, bringing a muggy and potentially stormy afternoon to the I-35 corridor, Hill Country, and portions of the coastal plains.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, storms will be most active through the afternoon and early evening hours, with isolated downpours capable of producing brief street flooding. Areas including Austin, San Antonio, Georgetown, La Grange, and Pleasanton could see lightning, gusty winds, and rain rates exceeding 1 inch per hour in some spots.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s to mid-90s across the region, with highs nearing 97°F in Carrizo Springs and Del Rio. Though rainfall coverage will remain scattered, drivers along I-35 and US 90 should be alert for rapidly changing conditions and reduced visibility. Residents in the Hill Country, including Fredericksburg and Kerrville, should monitor for afternoon storms as well.
If thunder roars, head indoors. Charge devices, avoid flooded low water crossings, and delay outdoor plans when storms approach.
Rain chances will taper by Thursday but return for most areas by the weekend, with the highest chances on Saturday.
