Texas – Low clouds hang over San Antonio this morning as humid Gulf air pushes inland, hinting that showers will begin popping up across the metro later today. The air feels warm and slightly breezy already, with temperatures quickly climbing through the 70s across Bexar County.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, scattered showers may begin developing during the afternoon hours with about a 30 percent chance of rain. Temperatures rise toward 84 degrees, while southeast winds increase between 10 and 15 mph with gusts near 25 mph.

Drivers along I-35, Loop 410, and U.S. Highway 281 should expect isolated downpours later today. Most areas stay dry for several hours, but brief showers could quickly dampen pavement and slow traffic during the late afternoon commute.

Storm coverage expands heading into the weekend. Showers increase Saturday morning before thunderstorms become more likely through the afternoon and evening. Rain chances climb toward 80 percent, and heavier bursts could create temporary ponding on roads across San Antonio and surrounding Hill Country communities.

Wet weather continues into Sunday as another wave of moisture pushes through South Texas. Rain and thunderstorms remain possible for much of the day with highs dropping slightly to around 67 degrees.

Early Sunday morning also brings the annual time change. Clocks jump ahead at 2 a.m., giving San Antonio longer daylight during the evening hours as spring continues to build across Texas.

Unsettled weather lingers early next week with additional showers and thunderstorms possible Monday and Tuesday. High temperatures rebound into the lower 80s as warm spring air returns.

Longer-range outlooks hint that even warmer conditions could expand across Texas later next week as a broader spring warm spell develops.
