Austin, Texas – Sweltering heat and Saharan dust will dominate the weather across South-Central Texas this weekend and into next week, with highs reaching the triple digits in areas like Del Rio and Uvalde through at least Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, temperatures will climb to 97°F in Austin and San Antonio by Saturday afternoon, with Del Rio peaking at 101°F on Sunday. Most cities will stay in the mid-to-upper 90s daily, while overnight lows offer little relief, hovering in the mid-70s.

Rain chances remain slim across the region, with only isolated showers possible Monday through Thursday. Cuero and La Grange may see slight relief, with up to a 35% chance of rain early next week, but most other areas stay under a 25% chance.

Hazy skies are expected to develop by Sunday as Saharan dust drifts in, reducing visibility and potentially affecting those with respiratory issues. Drivers and outdoor workers are urged to stay hydrated, limit time in direct sun, and monitor air quality alerts.

The heat dome pattern will likely persist, with limited rain chances and highs in the 90s through the Fourth of July.
