Austin, TX – The US National Weather Service in Austin–San Antonio says temperatures will climb well above average through the end of the week, with highs near or at record levels on Friday and Saturday before a strong cold front sweeps through late Saturday night.
Forecast highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to near 90°F across much of central and south-central Texas, including Austin, San Antonio, and Del Rio. The warmth will be accompanied by a light southeast breeze and low morning clouds.
However, a cold front arriving Saturday night will bring breezy north winds and a sharp drop in temperatures by Sunday. Highs on Sunday are forecast to fall into the 60s, with overnight lows dipping into the 40s by early next week.
The weather service notes that no rain is expected with this system, but travelers should plan for gusty winds and significantly cooler air to close out the weekend.
