Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas – North and Central Texas are seeing another unseasonably warm January day, with afternoon temperatures soaring more than 20 degrees above normal and approaching daily record levels across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, highs this afternoon are expected to climb into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees for many locations. Dallas–Fort Worth is forecast to reach around 78 degrees, while Waco could climb to near 79 or 80. These readings are well above typical early January highs, which usually sit in the mid to upper 50s.

Cities including Graham, Cisco, Sherman, Paris, Killeen, and Palestine are also seeing widespread sunshine and warm conditions, with several spots pushing into the upper 70s and lower 80s. While daily records are not guaranteed, temperatures will come within a few degrees of record highs set for this time of year.

The warmth may feel more like late spring than mid-winter, but residents are reminded that conditions will not stay this mild for long. Winds remain light today, limiting fire weather concerns, though dry grasses can still ignite easily.

A pattern change is expected later this week, bringing cooler air and a return to more seasonable temperatures. Until then, Texans can expect one more day of near-record warmth before changes arrive toward the end of the workweek.
